Partnership

Guidelines for Brand and Institutional Partnerships of King's Cross Methodist Church’s Redevelopment Fundraising Initiatives

1. Heart of Partnership

All collaborations must uphold the Church’s mission and Christian witness. Every joint activity should clearly serve a ministry, community, or fundraising purpose, rather than promote a commercial brand.

E.g. We may collaborate with local or independent businesses, whether or not owned by church members, provided that the partnership upholds our church’s mission, reflects our values, and maintains clear distinction from commercial or promotional activity.

2. Welcoming Support

We warmly welcome:

  • Direct financial gifts or offerings— one-off, monthly, or connected with special events.

  • In-kind donations such as. food, equipment or venue support, given as full offerings — so the church does not need to make partial payments or select between vendors.

3. No Partial Commercial Arrangements

To maintain integrity and avoid conflicts of interest or any perceptions of favouritism, the Church does not normally enter shared-profit or part-payment schemes (for example, “a percentage of sales to charity”). Partners are instead encouraged to make a full donation equivalent to the intended value.

E.g. Church members may offer professional services or goods as part of their voluntary contribution or at cost, with prior approval from the Fundraising or Steering Group. Any arrangement involving payment must be transparent, fairly reviewed, and ensure no personal financial gain arises from church fundraising activities.

4. Transparency and Integrity

All external partnerships must be transparent and clearly communicated as supporting the

church’s redevelopment or ministry. Marketing or branding should never imply that the

church endorses a particular product or business.

5. Spirit of Generosity, Not Transaction

We recognise and celebrate generosity from individuals, groups, or organisations. Our priority is to preserve the integrity of our Christian witness. Every partnership should express shared service and fellowship, not commercial exchange.

6. Approval and Oversight

All proposed collaborations involving branding, social media promotion, or public presence at church events must receive prior approval from the Redevelopment Steering Group (or its delegated task group) to ensure alignment with these principles.

An activity is considered a “church event” when it uses church premises, publicity channels, or branding, or when funds are collected in the church’s name. Such events require review or approval by the Redevelopment Fundraising Team or Steering Group to ensure alignment and accountability.

Private individuals or external groups may organise independent fundraising activities in support of the redevelopment, provided they make clear that the event is “in support of” rather than “organised by” King’s Cross Methodist Church and seek approval before using the church’s name, logo, or premises.

7. Gratitude and Recognition

We offer sincere gratitude for all donations and support. Acknowledgement may take the form of a thank-you message, logo mention, or verbal appreciation, but recognition will always remain secondary to the church’s mission and pastoral focus.

8. Stewardship Statement

We seek to steward every gift — of time, talent, or treasure — faithfully and transparently.  All partnerships reflect Christ’s love and advance the shared purpose of rebuilding His house at King’s Cross.
